About InSyB 2018

MyBioInfoNet and Perdana University will be hosting the Second International Symposium on Bioinformatics 2018 (InSyB2018) at Perdana University from 20-21 December 2018. This symposium aims to spread awareness and development of bioinformatics in Asia Pacific. The first InSyB (InSyB2017) was held in Jakarta, Indonesia. InSyB is the sister event of the bigger conference on Bioinformatics – the International Conference on Bioinformatics (InCoB) organised by Asia Pacific Bioinformatics Network (APBioNet). APBioNet is a nonprofit, nongovernmental, international organization founded in 1998 that focuses on the promotion of bioinformatics in the Asia-Pacific region. In 2012, APBioNet was incorporated in Singapore as a public limited liability company to ensure quality, sustainability, and continuity of its mission to advance bioinformatics across the region and beyond.

InSyB2018 will also witness the inauguration launch of MyBioInfoNet, a non-profit entity dedicated to serve as a networking platform for Malaysians or non-Malaysians, within or outside Malaysia, with interest in growing bioinformatics in the country. MyBioInfoNet (http://www.mybioinfonet.org/index.php) aims to work closely with local bioinformatics organisations, associations, groups or other relevant outfits in promoting the greater good of bioinformatics in the country. Our mission is to pioneer the growth and development of bioinformatics awareness, training, education, infrastructure, resources, and research in Malaysia. We envision to advance the understanding and application of bioinformatics in research, education and services in Malaysia.

Perdana University is an initiative between Academic Medical Centre Sdn. Bhd. and the Public-Private Partnership Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department. Launched in September 2011, the University is committed to providing premier programmes in medical and health sciences. Its campus in Serdang, Selangor is home to internationally renowned faculty members and experts in Medicine, Psychological Medicine, Occupational Therapy, and Bioinformatics. Its establishment is in line with the National Higher Education Strategic Plan on the development of first-class human capital.  Perdana University aims to be one of the premier universities in the world contributing to the global community through the pursuit of excellence in education, research and service.
InSyB2018 will also be commemorating the MoU signing between MyBioInfoNet and Asia Pacific Bioinformatics Network Limited (APBioNet Ltd).
